So, I haven't had radio for a little over a year now in my car.
It stinks some times, because I want to kick out the jams.
But other times, it's nice not to have the radio.
Because then you get to hear things you might not have heard otherwise.
Namely, you can't just listen to the rain pelt the roof of your car.
You should try it some time. One might say it's therapeutic. To me it's just relaxing.
And that's a good thing driving in Austin traffic.
When I was growing up, one of the fondest memories I have is when it Texas-rained--and if you've lived in Texas long enough you know what I mean--we would open the garage door and put down the tailgate on my dad's truck and we'd just sit there watching it rain.
We'd feel the mist from those drops hitting the driveway.
And we'd take in a long, deep breath of the lovely smell of rain.
Aaaaahhhh.....
You know the smell, don't you?
Well, if you don't, I'd propose to you that the next time it rains, you take some time out of that busy schedule of yours and enjoy the rain.
Open the garage or sit on the porch with your socks off.
Pull up a chair and watch it come down.
Hear the ebb and flow of the intensity.
Watch it pour down in your yard and not in your neighbor's yard across the street.
Watch the wind blowing so hard that it's practically raining sideways.
And thank God for that wonderful smell and the peace that you feel in the midst of such violence.
Because only He could put those two together.
